The 4-year-old was known to talk about t“products,” and many adults found her exceptionally articulate for her age. Entrepreneurs themselves, Meng and her husband, artist Joe Allen, chalked it up to their own shop talk around the house. It turns out Sky had set her sights set on a personal acquisition, namely a Calico Critters Maple Cat Family figure. She deduced the quickest route to owning one was to start her own company.
2. Overcoming obstacles, US figure skaters ready for Beijing (Human Interest)
Jan 19. 2022
Kaitlin Hawayek spent last summer dealing with a concussion that she got in practice, unsure of when she would be able to join ice dance partner Jean-Luc Baker on the rink again to prepare for the Beijing Olympics. Hawayek was off the ice entirely for 10 days, then began with light workouts in which she kept close tabs on her heart rate. As time went on, Hawayek was able to add practice time in 15-minute increments, though she and Baker still had to withdraw from the U.S. Classic and their Grand Prix assignment at the NHK Trophy.
They finally made their season debut at the Rostelecom Cup in Russia, finishing in fifth place, then won a lower-level event in Croatia.

5. People are selling pre-paid restaurant reservations on Reddit (Explanatory Feature)
Those who can't make their restaurant reservations are selling them on Reddit
Jan 14.2022
Many restaurants have seen a rise in people not showing up for reservations, which has caused some to adopt a paid-reservation policy. Basically, customers have to pay ahead of time to secure a seat at the restaurant. That way, if they don’t show up, the restaurant isn’t stuck with an empty table not making any money.
This new system could leave some customers stuck having to pay even if they had a legitimate reason to cancel.
In response, Reddit users have been selling paid-reservation spots for restaurants that don’t offer refunds.

7. Your earbuds are gross - here’s how to clean them the right way (How to Do)
Unless you clean your earbuds regularly, crud builds up
Jan 16. 2022
Compared to other gadgets, earbuds rack up an extraordinary amount of nastiness. They collect dirt and skin particles, earwax, grease, and sweat. They’re like portable Petri dishes for our biological debris.
First, grab a microfiber cloth.
Lightly dampen it and wipe down the cord and body of each earbud. You can use these steps for your earbuds’ charging case, too, but avoid anything wet on the speaker area of your headphones.
If you prefer cleaning wipes, grab a big affordable pack, so you never run out. Again, avoid the speaker.

9. Words my uncle, Martin Luther King Jr., would share in our troubled times (Historical F.)
Jan 17. 2022
I believe if MLK were here today, he would encourage us to hold onto hope, fear not, have faith in God, and choose human kindness and love over hate.
"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase," he said. "Everything that is done in the world is done by hope. Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree."
MLK also once said, "We must learn to live together as brothers and sisters or perish together as fools."
